Even as Anushka is eagerly awaiting her Singam-2 opposite Suriya this week, she has another biggie in her kitty for which she had been working round the clock for the past many months. The lanky actress plays the title role in the upcoming Tamil-Telugu venture Rudhramadevi which is produced and directed by Gunasekhar.
A host of stars including Rana Daggubati, Prakash Raj, Madhumitha, Hamsa Nandhini, Brahmanandam and Suman play prominent roles in the film which is produced in 3-D mode. Set in the backdrop of a historic period, it has Anushka essaying Rudrama Devi, a Kakatiya Queen from the 13th century. Maestro Ilaiyaraja is scoring the film’s music while Thotta Dharani is in charge of art works.
For her role in the film, Anushka is reported to be wearing jewels worth Rs.5 crores.The Rs 50 Crore budgeted film has popular Bollywood costume designer, Neeta Lulla, assigned to take special care in decorating Anushka’s glowing beauty with many ornaments and jewels worth Rs.5 crores.
Commenting about this, Gunasekhar says “Anushka’s jewellery in the film would be spoken about by the audiences for a long time; in fact, it is far better than what Aishwarya Rai was seen wearing in Jodhaa Akbar in 2008. We are also proud to be making the first-ever 3-D film in Telugu and Tamil. Maestro’s music is an added strength of the film!”
The film’s shoot is likely to be wrapped up by December and its theatrical release is planned some time early next year.< Previous Article
